Purpose
To show how to check the documentation for IDOC types in the standard system as sometimes you need to check the meaning of an IDOC segment or find out the release status of an IDOC type.Overview
To find out the relevant IDOC information you can use transaction WE60. From here enter the IDOC type and click on the button ‘HTML format’ on the top left hand side of the screen.
From here you can get a description of each segment and get information about whether the segment is optional or required and importantly how many times this segment can be included in the IDOC. For example with the ORDERS05 IDOC type the segment E1EDP19 can occur a maximum of 5 times. Having more segments in your IDOC than allowed here can cause errors.
Recommendations
There is a modification note 370021 (Maximum number of segments in ORDERS IDoc is too small) that describes how to change the standard setting for the maximum allowed number of segments.
