Migration Cockpit Migration Object Modeler S/4HANA Basics

have been supporting S/4HANA implementation projects globally as an S/4HANA product expert since the first release of S/4HANA in 2015. I am a member of the SAP S/4HANA Regional Implementation Group (RIG) which has played a key role in the successful implementation of hundreds of S/4HANA projects. One of the challenges greenfield implementation customers faced was data migration and hence I prepared a step by step guide for Migration Object Modeler and am making it available for consultants through this blog.
Customers implementing S/4HANA are always looking for a comprehensive data migration solution. SAP’s Migration Cockpit is the best of the bread solution for this. This solution provides the tools necessary for migrating both master and transactional data from any SAP or non-SAP system to an S/4HANA system. The Migration Cockpit is available in both on-premise and cloud editions of S/4HANA and does not require any additional licenses. This solution is designed and developed for S/4HANA new implementation projects only. Migration Cockpit uses predefined content which are made available as standard SAP migration objects. These objects come with templates in excel format with necessary columns for the target structure fields in S/4HANA. These templates are filled in with the data from the source system and uploaded and processed. The migration program for these objects are automatically generated by the system and hence there is no need for any programming.
For on premise S/4HANA and the private option of S/4HANA Cloud, the migration cockpit allows you to integrate custom data into the migration project using the SAP S/4HANA migration object modeler. Migration object modeler (MOM) is used to create your own customer-specific migration objects or add SAP standard objects that are not yet included in the migration cockpit. MOM can also be used to adjust the SAP standard migration objects delivered with the cockpit by adding custom fields.
