Delivery Integration in SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud Transportation Management

 

Delivery-Based Freight Units 

1. Business Background 

To simplify your Freight Order process in SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud Transportation Management, you can configure delivery-based Freight Unit (FU) creation. Once sales orders and deliveries exist, Freight Units are created automatically by the system. Planning can start immediately.

Process Comparison 
Other that the default process, in the delivery based approach the delivery automatically triggers freight unit (FU) creation, streamlining planning and reducing manual effort. 

• Standard process: Sales Order → Freight Unit → Plan on Freight Order → Create Deliveries (…) 

• Delivery based process: Sales Order → Delivery → Freight Unit -> Plan Freight Order (…)

 2.1 Step-by-Step Setup 

• Prerequisite: Log in with a user assigned the BPC_EXPERT role. 

• Open the ‘Manage Your Solution’ app. 

• Navigate to ‘Transportation Order Management’ 

• Navigate to step 6 ‘Define Transportation-Relevance of Delivery Documents’ 

• Maintain the following values for ‘Define Transportation-Relevance of Delivery Documents’ 

• Relevant shipping point 

• Delivery type: Outbound Delivery 

• Shipping condition: TM internal/external planning 

• Control key: Integrate Outbound Delivery 

• Logistics integration profile: Planning Cloud Outbound 

• Navigate to step 3 ‘Define Logistics Integration Profile’ 

• Verify that the correct Freight Unit Building Rule is maintained for the Logistics Integration profile assigned in the previous step. 

• Save your changes 

2.2 Create and Validate Transactions 

• Create a sales order and verify planning-relevant fields: 

• Incoterms: set to a planning-relevant Incoterm. 

• Ship-to, shipping condition, and shipping point align with your TM integration settings. 

• Create the delivery and confirm: 

• A Freight Unit is created automatically. 

• The FU is visible in the Transportation Cockpit and ready for assignment to a Freight Order.
