In SAP how to know which code is updating the table? A great alternative for Where-Used List

 Introduction

After working for 15 years in SAP and working in both Implementation and Support Project there is always a requirement to figure out where is the specific table is getting updated. Lots of time we use Where-Used List and it takes forever to know about it. Suppose you start working in a Support Project and there is a Custom Field that is getting Updated. Using the below Blog you can use it any where and everywhere in SAP ECC as well as SAP S/4 HANA.

Solution

Current Solution using SE11->Table Name->Where used List.

I am taking an example of Table /OPT/VIM_1HEAD

Now we want to find all the Programs associated with a Z package

Here is the below list and now you have to browse every program to figure out where the UPDATE is being done

Now we select Select all and Detail view line

Now you have to Find the Expression as below

Here is the below list. That’s a lot of Clicks and I cannot do multiple tables at one go.

New Solution

In SAP ECC  Go TO SE38–>RS_ABAP_SOURCE_SCAN Execute

Now Search the Specific Command. Here we can scan Multiple commands a very important Advantage. Enter Multiple Search term and Execute

Below is the Result

Conclusion

Using the above blog you can use this in both SAP ECC and SAP S/4 HANA
